"Discipleship" Books

EPI has begun work on a series of short books providing a Leadership Discipleship Curriculum. The books will be published in French, following a period of consultation with francophone leaders within Burkina Faso, carried out as part of a doctoral research program.

Two books have been published in English, as a prototype, to promote the work we are undertaking.

The discipleship curriculum has two main sections—'The High Call of God' and 'Pressing Towards the High Call of God'—with several modules in either section, each of which will eventually be published as a book.

'The Eternal Purpose of God

For Christians the Bible is typically read as an act of worship, in order to better know and understand their Christian faith, allowing God to speak personally to them through its words. Such an appreciation has made the Bible the best-selling and most widely-read book ever.

The curriculum covers a biblical-theological introduction to Christian mission and to the historical and emergent world-mission movements, together with insight into the spirituality, theory and praxis of Christian faith, community and work within a global missionary paradigm. » read more »

A growing constituency, however, is identifying and commending the appropriateness of reading all of Scripture missiologically. This approach has been summarised by the contrast between the traditional adage: "the Biblical basis for mission" and the emerging equivalent: "the missional basis of the Bible."

EPI's own book, The Eternal Purpose of God adopts this missiological approach to reading scripture; Christopher Wright's The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible's Grand Narrative represents an exhaustive theological treatment of it.  » read more »
